I am an experienced academic where my experience extends for more than 15 years working in a range of universities in Jordan (Mutah University) and Australia (Curtin University and Edith Cowan University) that sharpened my research, teaching experience as well as my academic services experiences. My research interest is mainly in diabetes care, focusing on the prevention of diabetic foot ulcers. In my doctoral degree, I investigated burn injuries to patients with diabetes. This continued after graduation and expanded to include burns care, evidence-based practice, complementary therapies, nursing education, older people and individuals with a disability.
I have conducted several primary research studies investigating foot problems among people with diabetes using a range of methodologies. I also have led several systematic reviews including an integrative review of research publications reporting external traumas contributing to foot ulcers among people with diabetes. In addition to the integrative review, I have led another systematic review of case reports of diabetic foot ulcers initiated by external traumas. I have also has led primary research aiming to investigate foot problems in the general inpatients. Following this primary research, I have led a systematic review aiming to investigate foot problems in the older population. I have also led a project aiming to examined the effectiveness of a community-based intervention on self-advocacy, rights, and stigma for individuals with a disability from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds and their caregivers. My research has a focus on nursing education where I published a systematic review of postgraduate nurse education on the nurse and patient outcomes. My publication record contains two articles reporting a primary research project aiming to improve nursing students' clinical placement experiences.
I have supervised higher degree research students and has also acted as an external examiner for several research theses. I am holding the position of an associate editor of the International Journal of Nursing Practice. I am also chairing the licensing committee for the Diabetic Foot specialty of the Jordanian Nursing Council.
In terms of teaching, I have taught several subjects at the undergraduate as well as postgraduate levels in a range of areas including evidence-based practice, literature review, professional issues in nursing, nursing in the Australian Healthcare system, clinical risk management, nursing science, Critical care nursing.."
